DIXON, Walter Passed away peacefully in the Pembroke Regional Hospital on Friday, September 16th, 2005 in his 90th year. Born Kippax, Yorkshire, England. Emigrated to Canada April of 1932 at the age of 16 years. Walter is a friend of Jack & Evelyn Wilson and family of Pembroke (Late Harry Wilson Family). Son of the late Emily and Thomas Dixon (nee Cockroft). Survived by brother James (Erica) Dixon, Wetherby, West Yorkshire, England. Brother-in-law of Les Crates, Penarth, South Glamorgan, Wales, U.K. Predeceased by sister Hilda (Dixie) Crates. Walter served in the Canadian Armed Forces from March 1941 - December 1945. He received 1939-45 Star, Defence Medal, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp and War Medal 1939-45. Walter was also employed with the Canadian Red Cross in Toronto for 23 years. Resting at the Malcolm, Deavitt & Binhammer Funeral Home, 141 Renfrew St., Pembroke on Sunday from 1 until 3:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Sunday, September 18th, 2005 at 3:00 p.m. Interment in Greenwood United Cemetery. (As an expression of sympathy donations to the Greenwood United Church Memorial Fund would be appreciated).
