Verla Handke

Handke, Verla – passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, August 22, 2021 at the age of 88 years.

Verla Handke (nee Burchart) of Pembroke, wife of the late Lawrence Handke.  Loved and cherished mother of Stephen Handke; Lorna Handke (Donald White); Wendy Godin (Andrew); and Jeffrey Handke (Alexis).  Grandmother of Tyler; Joshua & Brycen; and Olivia & Brittney.  Great-grandmother of Tatianna & Natalia; Isabelle; Olivia; and Rosalie.  Daughter of the late Herman and Bertha Burchart (nee Panke).  Sister of Barbara Schauer (Elwin), Frank Burchart (Rita), Joan Laforce (late William), Mona LeMaitre (Marcel), Eldon Burchart (Sheilah) and Beverley LeMaitre (Joe). Predeceased by her brothers Merrill Burchart & Conrad Burchart (Merle), infant brother Erich and infant sister Sandra.  Verla will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.

Respecting Verla’s wishes, there will be no visitation.  A Funeral Service will be held at Zion Lutheran Church, 454 Miller St., Pembroke on Friday, August 27, 2021 at 11:00 a.m.  Interment in Zion Lutheran Cemetery.  As an expression of sympathy, donations to Irving Greenberg Family Cancer Centre or Zion Lutheran Church would be appreciated.  Online donations and condolences are available at www.mdbfuneralhome.com.
