It is with heavy hearts the family of Suzanne Recoskie announce her passing on February 23, 2024 after a long illness in her 67^th year.

Suzanne Sylvie Recoskie (nee Dion) of Pembroke, wife of Leo Recoskie.   Beloved mother of Sylvie Recoskie (Alex Fysh) and Thomas Recoskie.  Cherished grandmother of Stella Fysh. Dear sister of Lise Dion (John Barsczewski), Yvonne Delorme (Rick), Monique Dion (Gilbert Arbez), Gabrielle Dion (Janis Ziberg), Luc Dion, Carole Dion (Michel Rolland) and Gaetan Dion.  Predeceased by parents Leo Dion and Carmella Perron.

Suzanne was born in Sudbury and grew up in Hanmer.  She was the fourth born of eight children. After high school Suzanne moved to Montreal where she lived for seven years.  There she obtained her college diploma in Social Sciences, History major.  She worked at Bell Canada, Montreal for five years.   In 1985 she moved to Pembroke and married Leo in 1986.

In the 15 years prior to COVID Suzanne was a teacher mostly at L’Ecole Equinox, a French only elementary and secondary school in Pembroke.  She loved working there, and continued as a volunteer when no longer on paid contract.

Ever since Suzanne learned to read as a child, she loved absorbing knowledge.  Her love of reading was a life long passion.  She had astounding knowledge of literature, psychology and history.

A bright light in the Dion and Recoskie families has gone out.   We are all very grateful for the time we had her in our lives.

Respecting Suzanne’s wishes, a traditional visitation and viewing will take place at Malcolm, Deavitt & Binhammer Funeral Home, 141 Renfrew St., Pembroke on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. and on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 from 10:00-10:45 a.m. followed by Celebration of Life Service in the Chapel at 11:00 a.m.  Those in attendance will be invited to join in fellowship and refreshments at Calvin United Church Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
