Rosemary Kettner

d. December 27, 2019

KETTNER, Rosemary Florence – passed away at Miramichi Lodge, Pembroke on Friday, December 27, 2019 at the age of 80 years. Rosemary Kettner (nee Stencell) of Petawawa, wife of the late Donald Kettner. Dear mother of Andrew (Cathy), Timmins; Shawn (Caroline Desormiers), North Bay; Matthew, Golden Lake; and Emily (Jason Sopha), Port Carling. Cherished grandmother of Kelly Rose, Abigail & Benjamin. Loving mother-in-law of Cyndi Kettner. Daughter of the late Charles & Florence Stencell (nee Michel) and predeceased by sister Adeline Barber (Doug) & brother Michael Stencell (Rena). Also survived by many nieces and nephews. A teacher for many years, Mom loved children and had a special place in her heart for teaching adults with special needs. She was an original member and long-serving saxophone player with the Petawawa Legion Band, a member of the Upper Ottawa Valley Women's Steam Show Club, and a dedicated member of St. John's Lutheran Church where she was Confirmed, attended Luther League, was Married, taught Sunday School, and was the last one to leave the chat group at the end of the walk after Church on any given Sunday. She loved a good yard sale, a good show, a good seat, and a good plate of chips. She enjoyed taking the long way there, the back roads whenever possible, and she liked a good game of Euchre, Chinese Checkers or pairing up with Emily and somehow beating everyone at Pictionary. Mom liked to host or attend a get together and no matter what the occasion, she appreciated a good turn out and a good laugh. She had a love of family, of tradition, and was the first one on the floor with her three grandchildren...bad knees or no knees. A people person to the end, Mom found joy in her family and friends and she would be especially pleased to know you took the time to read and think on these few memories. Andrew, Shawn, Matthew, and Emily extend a sincere thank you for sharing and being part of our mother's journey. Visitation at the Malcolm, Deavitt & Binhammer Funeral Home, 141 Renfrew St., Pembroke on Friday, January 3, 2020 from 6 to 8:00 p.m., and at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 605 Black Bay Rd., Petawawa on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the Funeral Service at 12:00 noon. Spring Interment in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery. (As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Dementia Society, Miramichi Lodge, or St. John’s Lutheran Church, Petawawa would be appreciated.)
