Passed away at Marianhill, Pembroke on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at the age of 97 years.
Ralph Pyne was born and raised in Ridgetown, moving across Ontario and Quebec in his 20 years with Bell Canada. The family settled in Ottawa where Ralph spent his career with the St. Lawrence Seaway Authority. In retirement, he started at Walmart as a greeter, finishing as a department manager. After living in Ottawa for 58 years, he lived with his daughter in Cobden before finishing his final chapter of life in the care of the compassionate staff at Marianhill.
Ralph is the beloved husband of 72 years to Mary Jane Pyne (nee Neff). Father of the late Kim Pritchard, Tim Pyne (Gail), Ridgeway; Tom Pyne (Lyne), Carleton Place; Gerry Pyne (Darlene), Ferryland, Newfoundland; and Cheryl Duncan (Gord), Cobden. Proud Pop Pop to 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by parents Howard & Jessie Pyne (nee Nottingham); and siblings Gwen Merlo (late Bill), Vic Pyne (late Connie) & Bess Hill (late Clarence). Remembered by many nieces & nephews.
With his age and wisdom, Ralph was acutely aware that all life must come to an end. In the loss of a daughter, a granddaughter, parents, siblings, and so many friends – he cherished gathering together, storytelling, laughter, and celebrating life. That’s why there will be no set date or time to honour his life, in his physical absence, his memory will stay alive in those stories and laughter that continue to be shared. His life will be honoured each and every day by those who hold him in their hearts.
