Michael Sibley

d. November 8, 2020

SIBLEY, Michael Aubrey – peacefully at the Pembroke Regional Hospital on Sunday, November 8, 2020 at the age of 65 years.

Michael (Mike) Sibley of Pembroke, beloved husband of Lorna Sibley (nee Marks).  Predeceased by his parents Carl and Irma Sibley (nee Rennehan) and survived by sisters Paulette Hall and Brenda Davies (Garry), both of Halifax, Nova Scotia. Mike will be missed by his nieces and nephews along with his “adopted sisters” Jackie Findlay, Francais Arthurs and Cindy Graham.

Mike proudly served in the Canadian Armed Forces (RCEME) for 25 years as a weapons technician.  He was posted to Borden, Victoria, Halifax, Gagetown, Lahr West Germany, Kitchener and Petawawa. Following his retirement from the military, he and Lorna settled in Pembroke.  Mike loved the Ottawa Valley and its close proximity to Algonquin Park. Kayaking, camping and Geocaching were a huge part of his retirement years. He was also very involved with the local Relay for Life at CFB Petawawa throughout his 18 year battle with cancer.  He spent many hours with Dave Findlay at the driving range and The Findlay Memorial Golf Tournament was dear to his heart following Dave’s death in 2008.  Mike was an active member of Holy Trinity Anglican Church, having served in many capacities, including as a Warden and multimedia technician.

Due to the current restrictions regarding COVID-19, the Memorial Service for Mike will be a private family service at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, but the public is invited to share in this service online after Monday, November 23, 2020.  (To view a copy of the Service Bulletin, click here.)  Arrangements entrusted to Malcolm, Deavitt & Binhammer Funeral Home, Pembroke.  As an expression of sympathy, donations to Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Pembroke; Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice would be appreciated. Online condolences are available at www.mdbfuneralhome.com.
