Marian Duffy (nee Davidson) of Pembroke, had a glorious and peaceful send off surrounded by her loving family, celebrating her life and her upcoming 95th birthday.
The true definition of maternal: caring, protective, nurturing, devoted and loving to her children: Steve (Corinne), Braeside; Joanne (Kevin), Pembroke; and David (Trish), Barrhaven. Nanny to Samantha & Tyler (Natasha); Brad & Matthew; and Sheena (Jason), Lucas (Lisa) & Randi-Lee. Proud and honoured great-nanny to Blythe; Karlie & Rylie; Layla & Lacey; and Ezrah. Survived by brother Clarence Davidson (Sidney). Predeceased by her parents William & Sadie Davidson, and siblings Harold (late Myrtle), Muriel Bennett (late Miller), Harvey Davidson (late Ruby), Lois Bradley (late Bud), Helen Davidson, Kenneth Davidson (late Phyllis), and Hazel Bromley (late Keith). Marian always kept busy with several cherished hobbies: baking her signature cheesecake, decorating ornate cookies, knitting, quilting, gardening vegetables and flowers, accomplishing crossword puzzles, going on little road trips to sample tasty treats, but nothing compared to her time spent creating memories with her family. She loved to reminisce about growing up in Westmeath, raising her children with Pat, her little apartment on Maple Ave., her lifelong friendships, extended family get togethers with nieces, nephews & the extensive extended family.
Marian never hesitated to incorporate the “hard conversations” into everyday life, making them part of the norm. This included several discussions about her funeral arrangements over the years, up to her dying day. She was progressive, realistic, economical and wanted to ensure she took care of her family by making things as easy as possible for them when she was gone. A graveside service will be held at Beachburg Union Cemetery, followed by a celebration of life to gather and embrace all the things she loved: family, friends, hobbies, food and hopefully nice weather! In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Joseph's Food Bank Pembroke, Pembroke Public Library or Ottawa Heart Institute are appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to Malcolm, Deavitt & Binhammer Funeral Home, Pembroke.
