Marguerite 'Maggie' McNicoll

Passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at Miramichi Lodge, Pembroke on Saturday, March 7, 2026, in her 82nd year.

Maggie McNicoll (née Thoms) of Pembroke, beloved wife and partner of over 60 years to Kenneth Ross McNicoll. Mother of Heather Varvaresos (Dino), Pembroke; Scott McNicoll (Alexandra Popovici), Montreal; and James McNicoll (Sarah Lyon), Guelph. Grandma of Alexandra, Evan, Chiara, Lilly, and Alethea. Daughter of the late Gordon and Mabelle Thoms (née Sibour). Sister of Cheryl Thoms and Wendy Hallberg (Peter). Lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews.

At the centre of Maggie’s life was her beloved Kenny, her partner, best friend, and constant companion for over 60 years. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, family, and friendship. If you knew Maggie, you were family. Vivacious, fun, and full of laughter, she had a wonderful sense of humour and a love of gathering people together. A colourful and enthusiastic social spirit, Maggie celebrated all of life’s little moments — road and day trips, vacations, time at the cottage, holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, and any special time in her friends’ and family’s lives — and above all, being a loving gramma.

The McNicoll family is deeply grateful for the care and compassion provided by the staff at Miramichi Lodge, especially the team of 2B: Erica, Jen B, Jen D, Darlene, Mia, Connie, Rebecca, Faith and Amelia. 

A Celebration of Life will be held in Pembroke, location to be announced, on Saturday, May 30, 2026, from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m., with Words of Remembrance at 3:00 p.m. Arrangements entrusted to Malcolm, Deavitt & Binhammer Funeral Home, Pembroke. As an expression of sympathy, donations to Miramichi Lodge would be appreciated.

Maggie’s warmth, laughter, and love of life will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
