Mabel Margarita Johnson

June 9, 1921 — August 23, 2020

Mabel Margarita Warburton Johnson was born in Bilbao, Spain in 1921. In 1923, her family returned to Canada and settled in La Tuque, Quebec. In 1933, they moved to Montreal.  She was the second child of James Arthur Warburton and Dorothy Louise Webb. Her eldest brother James was born in 1920, and younger brother Hugh born in 1924, both are deceased. A fourth child, Sheila, born in 1927 was deceased at childhood.
 
Mabel and Ernest Edward Johnson were married in November 1955 in St. James Church, Hull, Quebec. They built a home in Pembroke where they raised three children. She was an active member of her church and community.  Mabel served as President of the Canadian Club and was a long time member of the Alexandra Club of Pembroke. She often entertained others in her home and enjoyed participating in Bridge matches.
 
 She graduated from Ryerson where she studied  Early Childhood Education.  Mabel was also a talented seamstress, knitter and crochet enthusiast. Throughout her life she traveled the globe and  fondly spoke of her summers spent with her family in Tadasak on the St Lawrence Seaway.  
 
She shared her genuine enthusiasm for the outdoors with her family through ski trips, boat rides and nature walks.
Mother passed away on August 23, 2020 at Miramichi Lodge during Covid-19.
 
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Trinity Anglican Cemetery, Pembroke, ON.
