Passed away peacefully at Fairview Manor, Almonte on Thursday, January 22, 2026, in her 91st year.

Jitske de Jong (nee Pool) of Pembroke, dearly beloved wife of 53 years to the late Halbe de Jong (Jan. 16, 2008). Loving mother of Gaya Bickford (Jim), Almonte and Gary de Jong (Janet), Ottawa. Caring grandmother of Sarah Bickford (Rhett Titus), Jim Bickford, Cathy Bickford & Mathew Bickford (Natasha); and Angela Neuman, Bradley de Jong & Crystal de Jong. Great-grandmother of Olivia, Gwen & Elliot; Violet; Maeve & Ada; Asher, Mayah, Charlotte & Spencer; Hunter, Logan & Parker; and Madison. Dear sister of Anna Trumble (late Dick), Greta Boven (Fred), Wendi Bierman (John), John Pool (Nancy), and Joanne Woito (Brian). Predeceased by her parents Kornelis and Geeske (nee de Jong) Pool; sisters Edith Vandersleen (late Richard) & Janke Chattillon (late Timmy), and baby brother Wieberen Pool.

Visitation will be held at the Malcolm, Deavitt & Binhammer Funeral Home, 141 Renfrew St., Pembroke on Tuesday, January 27, 2026 from 1:00 – 1:45 p.m. followed by a Funeral Service in the Chapel at 2:00 p.m. Guests are invited to join after the service for fellowship and light luncheon. Spring Interment in Wesley United Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Fairview Manor, Almonte would be appreciated.
