Passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Friday, May 22, 2026 in his 94th year.
Jack Chalmers of Petawawa, husband of Elaine Chalmers (nee Robertson). Beloved father to Bruce (Loretta), Heather, & Susan. Grandfather to Jeris (Morgan) & Connor; and great-grandfather to Emrie & Adalyn. Son of the late William “Bill” & Irene Chalmers (nee Hammel). Predeceased by his siblings Dorothy Burns (late Alfred), Violet Bruce (late Bud), & Donald Chalmers. Uncle, but more like a brother, to the late Dorothy Ann Lust & Jim Burns (Mae).
Jack spent his career working at CFB Petawawa, retiring after 42 years of dedicated service in a variety of roles. He had a passion for fishing, curling, and hockey. Devoted member of St. George’s Chapel, CFB Petawawa for 70 years.
The family wishes to thank the nursing staff at Pembroke Regional Hospital for their care.
Memorial visitation will be held at the Malcolm, Deavitt & Binhammer Funeral Home, 141 Renfrew St., Pembroke on Sunday, May 31, 2026 from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held in the Chapel on Monday, June 1, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. The service will be available virtually. Luncheon to follow. Interment of ashes will be held at All Saint’s Anglican Cemetery, Petawawa at 1:30 p.m. As an expression of sympathy, donations to CHEO or the Pembroke Regional Hospital would be appreciated.
