Herbert Edward Martinat passed away surrounded by the love of his family on Monday, July 20, 2026 in his 92nd year.

Herb Martinat of Pembroke, husband of Lila Martinat (nee Ashick). Beloved father of Daryl (Connie), Dore Bay; Lynn O’Neill (Jay), Chapeau; and Terry (Pauline and the late Susan), Petawawa. Grandfather of Derek, Amber & Jed; Mallory, Joshua, Brady & Ryan; Kyle & Kelsey. Great-grandfather of Christopher, Bailey, Hayden & Riley; Zoe & Weston; Mason & Eva; Gage, Denver & Liza; and Ricky & Avery. Son of the late Adam and the late Augusta Martinat (nee Reinert). Predeceased by siblings Alvin (late Edwina), Madeline Van Horne (late Gayle), and Meta Kumm (late Wilmer). Herb was very close to the Ashick family, lovingly remembered by sister-in-law Marilyn Schultz (late Cliff). Predeceased by brothers & sisters-in-law Ernest (late Hilda), Eric (late Lydia), Wesley (late Louella), Ray (late Esther), Weldon (late Mary), Garnet (late Marion), Clarence (late Eva). Remembered by many nieces and nephews.

Herb was a dedicated employee of 29 years to the Loblaws Meat Department, 35 years to the Petawawa Fire Department and six years with Eganville Fire Department, and a lifetime member of St. Timothy’s Lutheran Church.

Visitation will be held at the Malcolm, Deavitt & Binhammer Funeral Home, 141 Renfrew St., Pembroke on Friday, July 24, 2026 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. A Funeral Service to be held at St. Timothy’s Lutheran Church, 503 Alfred St., Pembroke on Saturday, July 25, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. Interment in St. Timothy’s Lutheran Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, donations to St. Timothy’s Lutheran Church or the Ottawa Heart Institute would be appreciated.
