Frank Smith

Passed away peacefully at the Pembroke Regional Hospital, on Saturday, March 28, 2026 in his 87th year.

Frank Smith of Petawawa, beloved husband of Donna Smith (nee Pugh). Dear father of Jennifer Williams (Andrew), Ottawa and step-father of Tracey Newton (William), New Brunswick. Grandfather of Justin (Vicky) & Cole (Brittany) Williams and Jonathan & Brandon Newton. Predeceased by his parents Harry & Nellie Smith (nee Mitchell) and sister Phyllis Chase.

Frank proudly served his country for 32 years with the Royal Canadian Armour Corps, primarily with the 8th Canadian Hussars (Princess Louise’s), dedicating his life to the values of service, loyalty, and honour. Following his military career, he continued to serve in support of his community for another 26 years with the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires in the Ottawa Valley region and abroad. His commitment to the Hussar family remained strong throughout his life, and he gave generously of his time as Secretary of the Radley-Walters Chapter of the 8th Canadian Hussars Association. His dedication, leadership, and unwavering sense of duty left a lasting impact on all who knew and served alongside him.

Visitation will be held at Malcolm, Deavitt & Binhammer Funeral Home, 141 Renfrew St., Pembroke on Monday, April 13, 2026 from 1:00 – 2:45 p.m. with a Funeral Service at 3:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be available virtually following this link. Spring Interment will be held at All Saint’s Anglican Cemetery at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, donations to the 8CH Association would be appreciated.
