d. June 10, 2021

HUCKABONE, F. ALLAN – passed away peacefully at Miramichi Lodge on Thursday, June 10, 2021 at the age of 88 years. Allan Huckabone of Pembroke, beloved husband of the late Kathleen Huckabone (nee Leonard). Father of Mark Huckabone of Pembroke & Stephanie Huckabone (Max Joly) of Ottawa. Cherished Poppa of Felix, Jake, Ben, Claire & Patrick. Son of the late Findlay & Efie Huckabone. From a very young age, Allan was a voracious reader and a strong personality. People were drawn to his wit, intellect and charm. Allan left Pembroke and went to Kingston where he received a bachelor’s degree in History from Queen’s University and went on to Osgoode in Toronto to get his law degree. With his bride, Kathleen (nee Leonard) he returned to Pembroke and practiced law until he retired in 2008. He was passionate about history, the arts, good food, wine and the natural world. He suffered fools lightly and had a lot of time for interesting, honest people. He believed equally in hard work and having a good time. Allan was a legend in the Ottawa Valley, professionally, personally and philanthropically. He was a big believer in giving to his community and getting involved in worthy causes. Allan and Katie traveled the world simply and together. They were best friends and shared a love of life, intellectual pursuits, travel, classical music and entertaining. Allan (and Katie) will be truly missed. A private interment was held at Wesley United Cemetery, Pembroke. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to the Malcolm, Deavitt & Binhammer Funeral Home, Pembroke. (In lieu of flowers, donations to Miramichi Lodge would be appreciated). Online donations/condolences are available at www.mdbfuneralhome.com
