HAWTHORNE, Elaine – It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Elaine at the Pembroke Regional Hospital on Sunday, November 12, 2023, at the age of 86 years.
Elaine Hawthorne (nee McBride) of Beachburg, beloved wife of the late Willis Hawthorne (1998). Loving mother of 4 daughters: the late Brenda Nieuwenhuis (Barry), Debra Kraiker, Judy Hawthorne & Trudy Hawthorne. Cherished grandmother of Jonathan (Tabatha), David (Caitlin), Luke & Kaleb (Monica) Nieuwenhuis; Kyle (Jennifer) & Brendan (Armika) Kraiker; Adam Countryman & Andy Hawthorne and great-grandma to Logan (Jonathan), Willis & Stuart (David), Henry (Kaleb) Nieuwenhuis; Owen & Evelyn (Kyle), Nina (Brendan) Kraiker. Dear sister to Marilyn (late Darl) Robinson and sister-in-law to Evelyn (Emmett) Stephens. Predeceased by parents James and Isabel McBride and also by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Averil (Albert) Davidson, Irene (Robert) Kenney, Versal (Velma) Hawthorne, Wilma Read & Percy (Reta) Hawthorne. Will be missed by nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
Elaine was a gifted quilter, quiller, paper toler, card-maker and diamond painting enthusiast. She was a teacher, 4-H leader and Women Institute member for many years.
Visitation at the Malcolm, Deavitt & Binhammer Funeral Home, 141 Renfrew St., Pembroke on Sunday, November 19, 2023, from 2:00 to 4:00 & 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 20, 2023, at St. Andrew’s United Church in Beachburg.
