Donna Rinas

Passed away peacefully in the comfort of her family’s home in Petawawa, surrounded by the love of her family in-person and virtually, on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at the age of 86 years.

Donna Rinas (nee Patterson), long-time resident of Waterdown, rejoined with her husband the late John Rinas. As someone who preferred to stay in the background, never wanting to be the centre of attention, she was the centre of her family’s hearts. Beloved mother of Jerry Kuhn (Sherry), Newmarket; Chris Rinas (Christine), Petawawa; and the late Tracey Kuhn. Lovingly cherished Nana to Jennifer, Nicole, Kristy, Alisha, Holly, Mark, Christopher, Kyle, Kassandra, Spencer and many great-grandchildren. Survived by her older sister Norma Royle (late John). Predeceased by parents Stanley and Daisy Mae Patterson (nee Banks) and brother Ronald Patterson (late Norma). Donna always appreciated the support and friendship from her neighbour Ron, who kept her up-to-date on everything going on in Waterdown and supported her with errands when she was unable to get out for herself. The family is forever grateful for the compassionate care and consideration from Renfrew County Paramedics, Samantha and Lee.

Donna had strong opinions about many things which she didn’t hesitate to share, including her final wishes for cremation to take place. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Malcolm, Deavitt & Binhammer Funeral Home, Pembroke. In loving memory of those who have been taken by cancer, Donna’s husband John, daughter Tracey, and so many others in our hearts, for all those on their cancer journey, and for future research and support, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be truly fitting.
