Donald Malcolm Anthony, passed away with the love of his family surrounding him on Saturday, May 17, 2025, 13 days shy of his 87th birthday.
Don Anthony, born in Grand Falls, Newfoundland, he resided in several places with his family, ultimately settling in Pembroke and calling it home. Beloved husband, best friend and companion of over 67 years to Bev Anthony (nee Leibeck). Father of Kevin (Crystal), Calgary; Stephen (Teena), Pembroke; Michael (Carmen), Petawawa; and Kenny (Ginger), Pembroke. Papa to Jessica & Payton (Harvey); Zack (Jessica), Jasmine (Cleo) & the late Brandon; and Kendra, Jayden, Skyler & Noah. Great-Papa to Sauren; Corbin, Blakeleigh & Chase; and Ariyah. Son of the late Robert and Olive Anthony (nee Keats). Brother of George (Christine), John (late Lavigne), Larry (Laura), Marie Snow (Wayne), Meta White (Martin), Jeanette Baker (Paul), and Wayne (Donna). Predeceased by infant brother Robert, little sister Breta and brothers Hedley (Madonna), Terry, and David. Survived by several nieces and nephews.
Don was proud of the 6 years he served his country with the Canadian Armed Forces. He was a dedicated member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 72 for over 50 years serving in the Colour Party and as a past Sargent of Arms.
Long-haul transport truck driving was not only his job for several decade, but a true passion. He took his roll seriously, always dressing professionally, taking pride in his impeccable driving record, and being entrusted with very precious cargo at times.
In Don’s final days, he requested lemon meringue pie, chicken fingers and cake. Respecting Don’s specific wishes, cremation has taken place, a formal service will not be held. To honour Don, you are invited to toast his memory with your next beer at the legion, order the dessert at your next meal out, attend the Remembrance Day Ceremonies, wave at a truck driver, hug your loved ones a little extra longer or make a donation to the Ottawa Heart Institute, Canadian Lung Association or the charity of your choice.
