LEHMAN, Clarence Howard - of Orleans, originally from Pembroke, passed away at Monfort Hospital, Ottawa, on Friday, July 25, 2025 at the age of 87. Clarence was grateful for the many visits he received from family and friends during his final days.
Clarence has been the beloved husband of Noella Lehman (nee Mainville) for 57 years, whom he affectionately called “Herm”. Their marriage was marked by years of friendship, respect, care for one another and a love that was visible to all around them. He also leaves behind his son Eric (partner Anne), daughter Selena and his three grandchildren: Alice, Clara and Max. Clarence is predeceased by his father Henry Lehman (d. 1963), his mother Emma Melcher (d. 1988) and his dear friend and brother Eric “Rick” Lehman (d. 2001) who lived on Fischer St. in Pembroke.
Known as “Newt” by childhood friends, Clarence spent most of his working years as a Clerk for the Department of National Defence. He often said that a person who enjoys their work and the people they work with, never works a day in their life.
Clarence was a man of simple pleasures spending his days with his family, watching “dusters” on TV, enjoying a drink, appreciating nature, BBQing, solving word searches and sudoku puzzles, playing a rousing game of Rummikub or cribbage, and escaping to the cottage along the Bonnechere river.
Clarence was also known for his sense of humour. Much like his heroes in westerns who were a quick draw with a gun, Clarence was fast-witted and could drop a joke at any given moment, often unexpected but always enjoyed with a mutual grin.
Visitation will be held at the Malcolm, Deavitt & Binhammer Funeral Home, 141 Renfrew St., Pembroke on Friday, August 1, 2025 from 12:00 p.m. until the time of Funeral Service in the Chapel at 1:00 p.m. The service will be available virtually by following this link. Reception followed by interment in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, boundary Rd., Pembroke. In lieu of flowers, donations to either the Ottawa Heart Institute, the Dementia Society of Ottawa and Renfrew, or your favourite charity would be greatly appreciated.
As he rides off into the sunset, Clarence will be missed but remains beloved by all those dear to him.
