March 24, 1949 — May 10, 2023

Pembroke

GESNER, Charles “Chuck” Albert – peacefully at home surrounded by the love of his family on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at the age of 74 years.

Chuck Gesner of Pembroke, dearly loved husband of Sandra Gesner (nee Beach). Much loved dad to Stephanie Gesner (Andy Bugg) of Vienna, Austria, and Jeff Gesner (Jessica) of Vancouver, BC. Dearly loved papa to Jack Bugg.

Son of the late Nelson and Olive Gesner (nee McKenzie). Dear brother of Art (Linda) Gesner, Carleton Place; Cathy (Dave) Porteous, Carleton Place and Terry (Jim) Yach of Arnprior. Predeceased by sister Rosemarie Gesner.

Chuck was born to Nelson and Olive Gesner on March 24, 1949. At a young age, Chuck knew that he wanted to be a police officer and chased his dreams. He ended up serving with the O.P.P., Atikokan Twp. Police and the Deep River Police Service where he finished his policing career.

During this time, Chuck married the girl that he always had his eye on, Sandra. Together they had 2 children, Stephanie and Jeffrey.

Chuck was a pro-prankster and you could often hear him laughing loudly after causing one of his famous jump scares. Not only was he an avid reader, but also a story teller “extraordinaire” who could keep everyone captivated as he’d regale us with stories from his past. Chuck was a true lover of classic convertibles and classy hats, as well as being a devoted sports fan who could throw a mean fast ball and keep pucks out of the net.

Although he was likely known by many different names and titles, Chuck most importantly was a husband, father, papa, son, brother and a friend.

Respecting Chuck’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private celebration of Chuck’s life will take place at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to the care of the Malcolm, Deavitt & Binhammer Funeral Home, Pembroke, ON. As an expression of sympathy in memory of Chuck, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Canadian Tire Jumpstart Program would be appreciated.
