Brody Rose

Feb 15, 2009 — Oct 30, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved son, Brody Rose. Brody was just 17 years old when his life was cut tragically short. Brody passed away on October 30, 2026, surrounded by love and with his mom holding his hand.

Brody was born February 15, 2009, at Montfort Hospital in Ottawa. Brody lived in Petawawa, where he attended school, made countless friends, and became part of a community that loved him dearly. Brody was a Grade 12 student at Valour High School in Petawawa, with big plans for the future that he would no doubt have made a reality. Brody was a natural athlete with a passion for sports and competition. Brody started playing hockey not long after he learned to walk. A talented hockey player, Brody proudly played for the Petawawa Patriots U18 Rep team. He also excelled in volleyball, representing Valour High School as a member of its volleyball team. Not only did he love playing sports, but he loved being part of a team.

Brody was also an avid fan who loved watching sports, particularly hockey and volleyball. He was a devoted Leafs’ fan, largely because it was forced upon him by his loving Papa from the time he was in diapers. This past summer Brody had the time of his life watching professional volleyball up close, sitting front and centre at the 2026 Beach Pro Tour in Montreal and taking photos with the players. From the moment he could walk, he never stopped moving. When Brody wasn’t on the ice, the volleyball court, school, or work, he was making the most of every moment with his friends and family. He loved being outdoors and especially enjoyed spending time on the water. Brody loved going to the lake with his family where he enjoyed swimming and playing with his little sister and cousins, paddle boarding with his Mom, canoeing with his Dad, fishing with his Papa, and pushing whoever he could off the dock (except his Nana of course).

Above all else, Brody's greatest love was his family. He shared an incredibly close bond with his mother, father, and little sister, who were the centre of his world. He was also deeply loved by his nanas, papas, aunties, uncles, and cousins, who made up a close-knit extended family who were his biggest fans in all aspects of his life and cheered him on at every opportunity. Brody always had family in the stands watching his games and cheering his name.

Brody’s Mom was an exceptional supporter, who volunteered as part of the coaching team for the past several hockey seasons. As the eldest grandchild and the only boy for most of his life, Brody naturally had a special place in everyone’s hearts and took his role as big brother and big cousin to the girls seriously. He was a devoted, caring, and endlessly fun big brother and cousin, always ready to play, laugh, and make memories. Brody was very excited to have another boy in the family and loved holding and cuddling his baby boy cousin, who was born earlier this year. He excitedly talked about coaching his little cousins in hockey when they were older. He was absolutely adored by his entire family. Brody was the heart of his family and was constantly telling his family he loved them and was hearing it right back. Brody also loved animals and had lots of fun with his dog and cats at home.

Brody had a huge smile to match his huge heart. He absolutely shone with kindness, positivity, happiness, and excitement. He had many friends and a large circle of people who were drawn to his infectious energy and magnetic personality. He had a way of making people feel welcome and just excited to be around him. Being in his orbit made you feel special. His smile, his humour, his kindness, and his ability to light up a room made him unforgettable. To those who knew and loved him, Brody was pure sunshine.

Brody’s life was cut tragically short when he was struck by a vehicle on October 29, 2026, while riding his bike home from work. He passed away the following day, October 30, 2026, leaving behind a family and community heartbroken by a loss that words cannot begin to describe. His passing has left an immeasurable void in the lives of all who loved him.

Brody had so much to look forward to. He had big dreams, a strong work ethic, and the determination to accomplish whatever he set his mind to. His plan was to graduate from high school with the rest of his class in June 2027 and pursue his dream of becoming a firefighter/Paramedic. There is no doubt that, with his dedication, determination, compassion, and drive, he would have achieved any dream he chose. He had so much life ahead of him, so many adventures, and so many more memories to make.

Without question, Brody's future was taken from him far too soon, but his impact on the people around him will never be measured by the number of years he lived, but by the immense joy and love he gave to them. Brody loved and showed affection to his friends and family without restraint. He will be remembered for his huge smile and big beautiful eyes, his love of sports, his adventurous spirit, his love and devotion to family, his many friendships, his laughter, and the incredible joy he brought wherever he went.

Brody was loved beyond measure, and he will be missed beyond words. His family, friends, teammates, classmates, and community will carry his memory in their hearts forever. The world is less bright without him, but the sunshine he brought into so many lives will never fade. We are grateful to have known and loved you Brody. You will always be in our hearts. Forever our boy.

Forever our sunshine. Forever loved. Always in our hearts.

A celebration of Brody’s life will be held in his honour, bringing together family, friends, teammates, classmates, and all those whose lives he touched.  Date, time and location to be confirmed.

In lieu of flowers, for those wishing, a donation may be made in Brody's memory to KidSport Renfrew County.
