Passed away peacefully at home, Pembroke on Saturday, April 25, 2026 at the age of 85 years.
Betty Jean Hammel (nee Rosien) of Pembroke, dearly loved wife of the late Wallace Hammel. Dear mother of Wayne Hammel (Heather), Napanee; Elaine Graham (Mark), Powassan; the late Jean Shier; and Murray Hammel (late Tracey), Pembroke. Grandmother to Jenny (Kassie), Greydon (Kira) & Aaron (Liana) Hammel; Sarah Burleigh (Don) & Mitchell Graham; Amanda, Kaila & Andrew Shier; Bradley (Bridget) Hammel; and many great-grandchildren. Sister of Beryl (Keith) Richardson and Vincent (Diana) Rosien. Predeceased by parents Albert and Elizabeth Rosien (nee Kuehl) and sisters Beatrice (Harvey) Schruder & Erna (Garvin) Handke.
The family wishes to thank family & friends, nurses, PSWs, and Dr. Johnson for all the home visits, phone calls, and for being there for mom.
Visitation will be held at the Malcolm, Deavitt & Binhammer Funeral Home, 141 Renfrew St., Pembroke on Thursday, April 30, 2026 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 533 Borne Rd., Pembroke on Friday, May 1, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. Spring Interment in St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, donations to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church would be appreciated.
